Are you passionate about creating awareness and fostering understanding about accessibility and living with disabilities? Here’s your chance to inspire young minds and share your expertise as part of the schools project Jeugd en toegankelijkheid (Youth and Accessibility). They're seeking enthusiastic volunteer guides and experience experts to join us in delivering engaging and impactful activities for 5th and 6th-grade students. These activities are designed to provide children with a playful yet meaningful introduction to accessibility and the challenges faced by individuals with different disabilities. 📅 Event Dates & Locations - Monday, March 23: Kapellehof, Kapellestraat 90 Morning session: 9:15 AM – 11:35 AM Afternoon session: 12:35 PM – 2:55 PM - Tuesday, March 24: Ecocentrum De Goren, Postelsesteenweg 71 Morning session: 9:15 AM – 11:35 AM Afternoon session: 12:35 PM – 2:55 PM - Tuesday, April 28: Ecocentrum De Goren, Postelsesteenweg 71 Morning session: 9:15 AM – 11:35 AM Afternoon session: 12:35 PM – 2:55 PM You can choose to participate in one or multiple sessions based on your availability. 🧠 What’s Involved? As an experience expert, you’ll share your personal insights about living with a disability through hands-on, practical activities. As a volunteer guide, you’ll assist in facilitating these activities and engaging with the students. You can focus on themes where you feel most comfortable, such as: ✔️ Living with visual impairments (e.g., blindness or low vision) ✔️ Experiencing hearing impairments (e.g., deafness or hearing loss) ✔️ Understanding autism ✔️ Navigating life with mobility challenges (e.g., wheelchair use) ✔️ Living with missing limbs They will provide all the necessary materials and clear instructions for each activity. For example, students might use simulation glasses to experience different types of visual impairments, helping them understand both the challenges and possibilities.
