USA - A peer recovery specialist shows up at your door. Not in a clinic. Not behind a desk. At your home, where real life actually happens. That's what Roseman University's Empowered Home+ program is doing in Clark County for pregnant women in recovery. Funded by a $50K grant from Molina Healthcare of Nevada, the program sends a team directly into clients' homes: a clinician, medical students, and crucially a peer recovery specialist. Because sometimes what keeps you on track isn't a prescription or a treatment plan. It's someone who's been there, sitting across from you in your own living room. Sydney Beasley, one of the first participants, said it clearly: "There are multiple things in my life that make me think about using or drinking, and having that support and their wisdom really helps me stay on the right track." That wisdom she's talking about? That's lived experience at work. Empowered already supports around 100 pregnant or postpartum women in recovery. With home visits now rolling out to all of them, peer support is moving from supplement to cornerstone, embedded in care from pregnancy all the way until the child turns 2. This is what it looks like when care meets people where they are. Not just geographically. Humanly.
