Tennessee offers the Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) program, a state-endorsed certification for individuals in recovery from mental illness, substance abuse, or co-occurring disorders. The 40-hour training (offered via Zoom and in-person) is free. Applicants must have a high school diploma, be 18+, and have 24 consecutive months of self-directed recovery. Certification requires 75 hours of supervised peer work. Additional specializations include Certified Young Adult Peer Support Specialist (CYAPSS) and Certified Family Support Specialist (CFSS).
