Requirements: - Education: High school diploma - Personal: Lived experience (mental health, addiction or trauma) - Professional: None required, but experience is a plus Training: - Completion of Peer Support Specialist training - 1 year of experience required - Passing a certification test - Cost: $500 (SAMHSA has funded past CPS trainings) Background check required. Criminal record disqualification depends on the crime and how long ago it occurred. Digital peer support is available but not yet Medicaid reimbursable. Medicaid reimbursement is in process.
