Utah offers two state-endorsed peer support certifications: Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) for individuals in recovery from mental health and/or substance use conditions, and Family Peer Support Specialist (FPSS) for caregivers of individuals with behavioral health challenges. Both require a 40-hour training (in-person or hybrid) and passing an exam with 70%+ score. Training is free to trainees (funded by mental health block grants).
